Shakers Pub is situated right beside Hadrians Gate and the owner Yaşar always makes our Expat Group feel very welcome. In fact, being the good businessman that he is, he would even give us a discount on beer, knowing that we drink more than the average Turkish person he was never going to lose on that deal.
Rob Emmett organised it with Yaşar to run a regular Quiz night there, which takes place every Friday night starting at 8pm. On this particular occasion we started off our Friday night there and then went to Beirut Bar for a wee change, which is located 2 minutes along the street.
We also visit Shakers Pub when one of the member of the group has a Birthday. Yaşar usually provides a Cake which helps the party go with a swing. This time it was for my good friend Sevinç’s birthday. I love hanging out with her on her birthday as I have never seen someone embrace their own birthday so much. She loves it and it is great to see her enjoy herself. I ended up going along to Jolly Joker with her and our friends Ozlem and Candan. I didn’t even drink that night and discovered I could still enjoy myself. The beautiful company certainly helped. 😉
I said Yaşar usually provides a Cake for someone’s birthday (especially the ladies) but on this time he forgot for Suziq’s birthday. When I asked him where the cake was he was a bit embarrassed and redressed the situation as best he could by giving her a free cocktail, which helped to make up for his forgetfulness. Suziq certainly never complained and we still managed to sing Happy Birthday to her, so all was well.
Here is a mix of some Random Shaker photos
Thanks again to Yaşar and Shakers Pub for being a great host and if you are in town, pop in and say that Billy sent you. You never know he may give you some free nuts or cheap beer. Gotta be worth a try. 😉
