Nearly every year since I came to live in Antalya I have visited the Sandland exhibition. The first year I went it was situated in Konyaalti Beach but it moved to Lara in 2008 and has stayed there ever since.
It has a different theme each year and this years theme was Empires.
For the past few years I have taken my son along but after he takes a quick look around he is more interested in going to the sandy beach for a swim and to make sandcastles himself.
Still, it is a good day out and I am always impressed by the artwork on display.
At around 8TL entry fee it is quite cheap to get in and children 6 and under get in for free. 😉
When you enter a guy approaches you to take your photo. This is so he can offer you a plate with the photo on when you leave. Last year I bought one for my son but this year I told him not to waste his time as I wouldn’t be buying another. It is a good momento though.
If you go in the middle of Summer be sure to wear a hat though as it can get a bit hot while wondering around the displays. There is a small cafe with refreshments for sale though so remember to drink lots of liquids. (I sound like my Mum now)
They also have a special place set up where they give some lessons in Sand Art creation a couple of times a day but I have never been there at those times. I am sure the children would enjoy that though.
After doing the tour, my son and I head for the beach which is just outside the exhibition. There are a few bars along the beach so you can get a lunch there and spend the rest of the day sunbathing and swimming. All good fun and highly recommended. Here are all the photos I took that day.
