One of the best things about living in Turkey is the fresh fruit and vegetable markets. In fact it was one of the reasons I chose to move here. There is unbelievable choice and although the prices have risen quite a lot since I came here, they are still amazing value for money.

However, they do sell a lot of things which I haven’t a clue what to do with but you can rest assured that the housewives here can make great meals from it.

I have gave this guy a fair few pennies over the years as my son used to ask for a toy every time we went. Fortunately they also were cheap so they never broke the bank balance.

They also sell fresh fish and a great selection of cheese and olives as well as clothes and household items there. Apart from electrical goods you could get practically all your shopping here.

I thought it would be of interest for foreigners to see the full selection of what they sell so hence I went around taking photos of lots of the stalls. You can check them out below.

  • October 29, 2014

There are many fresh food markets all around Antalya. Each local area has it’s own particular day when it appears. If you are here then just ask a local and they should be able to tell you when and where it is.
