Football and Beach Night
I have moved in with some friends Alper and Alison for a while until I get on my feet and as they live close to the Beach, I have been going there quite a lot even though it is a bit hot for a Scotsman with skin like mine.
Alper runs a weekly football event and so I thought I’d see if I still had the old magic and found the answer to be mostly negative, although I did have a few flashes of it now and again. I had an operation on my back a few years ago so I was very tentative about playing but came through it ok. It was good to get my first game of football in about 8 years under my belt and I told them to put me down for next week.
My friend Şevinç had come along to see the game and she was keen to go to the beach afterwards, so about 7 or 8 of us went there. It was the perfect way to relax after running around in plus 30 degrees heat.
Şevinç had brought her mother with her and every time I see her I grab a selfie with her. She is a bit of a character and get around pretty well for her age….143. At least, that was the joke I made to Şevinç on the beach, I don’t think she is that old quite yet.
Şevinç gave Alison and Alper a lift home but for some reason, I decided to walk. Let’s just say I regreted that decision about 2 minutes after I started walking and realised that it would take me at least an hour to get back to their apartment. Doh! One of these days, I’ll wise up but don’t hold your breath.
