On a Friday the Fruit and Vegetable Market comes to my part of town and so I went with Aynur to buy some healthy food…for a change.
This is my favourite stall at the market, lots of dried fruit and nuts with Figs and Cashews top of the list.
Here is Aynur testing out the quality of the Walnuts. She obviously wasn’t impressed though as she didn’t buy any.
I do love some fresh Nar (Pomegranate) juice and here was some prepared and ready to go for thirsty shoppers.
There are a few stalls with a large selection of fresh fish on offer.
However, whenever I see Fish now, I can’t help but think of this video.
Another favourite section of the market for me is the Cheese van. They let you taste all the different flavours and won’t shout at you if you don’t buy any after trying. I usually do however, as I was brought up to think it rude not to buy something after sampling.
Men have no excuse not to be romantic and buy their lady some flowers as there are more than enough to choose from. Of course, being Scottish, I didn’t buy any. We are tight and not known for our romantic qualities after all. 😉
There is a wooden utensil cart here as well as Çakırlar Market. I don’t think it is the same guy though.
There is a different Balloon guy as well. Even he needs a Çay after a long day harassing parents with squeaky balloon noises aimed at their children.
Then we headed home where Aynur cooked some Pırasa, although it was a bit too leeky for my taste.
I did finish my plate though as I was brought up to do that also, regardless if I actually enjoy the food. I told her to put in about a quarter as much leek the next time and it would be just lovely. 🙂
